In 2014, the service was restored but with a condition; you could only send money with it. PayPal is the most popular payment processor in the world. With a Nigerian PayPal account, you can pay for services on Fiverr, buy goods on eBay etc. You could send money to your loved ones who have PayPal accounts in countries that can receive payments through PayPal.
How to Open A Nigerian PayPal Account
We have separated each step in different paragraphs so that you will understand better. The process is easy.
- Visit PayPal.com/Ng on your device browser.
- Click on “sign up for free” to register your account.
- Enter your First name, Last name and other correct information. Press the agree and continue button.
- Add your Nigerian debit card. The card number is the 16 digits number at the front of the card without spaces. While the CVV is the last three numbers at the back of the card.
- Click on Add card to continue.
- Go login to your email address and confirm the email from PayPal.
Immediately your email is confirmed, you can now make payments with your account.
Furthermore, if you have a First Bank Nigeria account, you can apply for a PayPal account through Internet Banking.
Follow the steps below to register for PayPal through First Bank;
- Login to your First Bank Internet Banking platform with your user ID, password, and token.
- Choose “PayPal Wallet” from the main tab. Select “Create PayPal Wallet” from the drop down menu.
- Select which of your First Bank debit card you want to link to the PayPal Wallet.
- Press the button on your token device to generate a code. Enter the code in the space provided for it.
- Create your password in the window that appears.
- Click on the “agree and create account” button.
- Check your email registered with the bank to confirm your registration.
When you make payment with your PayPal account, the money will be deducted from your bank account. The exchange rate for transactions depends on the bank card that is connected to your PayPal account.
Now that you have successfully created a Nigerian PayPal account, you can use it to purchase items from stores that accept PayPal.
